About me
Please, achieve, and definitely don’t be me
This was my mantra: please everyone and ignore my own needs; be the best at all costs (or avoid failure by not attempting it in the first place); and definitely don’t be authentic, because if people saw the real me, I was sure judgement and rejection would follow.
This wasn’t how I came into the world. I was fearless, unapologetically real, and had big emotions which I freely expressed. I wasn’t afraid to say what I thought and stand up for what I believed in.
It turns out these were not desirable qualities in the 80s.
Who you are is not welcome here
Like many young people, I learnt after some painful experiences to push down my emotions and do whatever I could to squeeze myself into the ‘be perfect and don’t get it wrong’ mould.
I thought this would get me what I so desperately craved: love and acceptance, and the feeling of being enough.
I was wrong.
I started my career as a journalist for the ABC then later moved into the field of media and communications. I worked with some inspiring people and loved the variety of my roles in Australia and overseas.
Yet despite this, I was constantly anxious and waiting for the day someone would tap me on the shoulder and say I wasn’t worthy of these jobs.
Enter Imposter Syndrome and mega anxiety
This was a massive spanner in the works of my mission to be perfect.
My solution was to work harder, please harder, and hide myself even harder. After 12 years of running this strategy, my physical health was a mess, as was my level of self-worth.
Then I discovered Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Life Coaching. I completed my certification training in London with one of the world’s most qualified NLP Master Trainers, Steve Payne, from the Academy of Coaching and Training.
Enter genuine fulfillment and purpose
Through this life-changing training I discovered my true purpose; to live my life as the imperfect, authentic and inherently worthy human that I am, so that I can help guide others on their own journey of rediscovery.
I now live on the stunning Surf Coast in Victoria, Australia with my ruggedly handsome husband-to-be and our larger-than-life six-year-old son.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity as a coach to partner with inspiring clients all around the world as they dig deep and do ‘the work’. Then they can really fly.
